Pups are born summer to fall...Typ takes 7-9 months. Pups are born summer to fall, they overwinter, and become mature in spring with the first mating cycle. Usually only 1-2 pups make it to dispersal, so inheritance isn't a huge issue. Males tend to disperse farthest, and females tend to stay nearer to mom (in biogeek-speak: "loose philopatry"). If mom is predated with juvies in the house, a daughter might take over her house, but not always.
